# Address check

`POST /v1/check/quick` answers **"is this address safe to pay?"** Use it before sending money to a wallet or a contract. Under half a second; $0.01 over x402.

## The request

```
{ "chain": "base", "address": "0xd8dA6BF26964aF9D7eEd9e03E53415D37aA96045", "context": "pay" }
```

The same fields as the [token check](https://lorglabs.com/docs-token-check.md#request), without `amount_usd`: `chain`, `address`, and optionally `context`.

## What is checked

- **Sanctions**: The US sanctions list (OFAC), refreshed daily, and the Chainalysis sanctions oracle.
- **Scam labels**: Addresses known as scams, drainers, phishing or exploiters.
- **Sweeper wallets**: A wallet that has handed its code to a known sweeper contract (EIP-7702): anything sent to it goes straight to a thief.
- **Address poisoning**: A look-alike wallet planted to be mistaken for an address you have dealt with: the same first and last characters, put into your history with fake "USDC" or "USDT" transfers or transfers of nothing, so that you copy it next time. We block a wallet that has never sent anything yet appears to have, or that imitates an address its counterparty really paid; and wallets set up as poisoners through known contracts.
- **Where its money came from**: Whether its first funds came directly from a sanctioned address or a mixer.
- **Its history**: How old it is and how much it has been used: a brand-new or barely used wallet is worth knowing about before a large payment.

For a token's contract, the answer says so and points to the [token check](https://lorglabs.com/docs-token-check.md), which is the one that tells you whether it is safe to buy.

## The wallet facts in the answer

Beside the [usual fields](https://lorglabs.com/docs-answer.md), a wallet gets `wallet`, and every answer says what kind of address it is:

```
"address_type": "delegated_wallet",
"wallet": { "outgoing_tx_count": 70, "first_seen": "2023-07-30T12:40:39.000Z", "age_days": 1171.7 }
```

- **address_type**: `wallet`, `delegated_wallet` (a wallet running contract code under EIP-7702), `contract` or `unknown`.
- **wallet**: Transactions it has sent, when it was first seen, and its age in days. `null` where it is not known.
